Our topic for Monday is all things digital. We’ll talk about the digitization of traditional media, “born digital” content, web 2.0, blogs, wikis, and more. How has technological change effected public communication? What do you think about the tension between old media and new media? Does it even exist? If anyone can be an author, what happens to the quality of information?
For Monday, please read pages 1-7 of Pavlik, Media in the Digital Age (on reserve in the library and distributed in class). Also read page 6-9 of read:write: Digital Possibilities for Literature by Harrington and Meade, and view two short videos: Blogs in Plain English and Wikis in Plain English. One reading response blog post is due at the beginning of class. Don’t forget to tag your posts!
As always, please come prepared for discussion; bring one question about the readings to class with you.
Have a good weekend!
